Regional differences in supporting the green economy by the EU funds in the years 2007–2013

Summary/Abstract: The paper dissuses the diversity of support granted to the green economy from European funds in the programming period 2007–2013 across Polish regions. Its main aim is to diagnose and identify the differences in supporting the green economy within the regional division, as well as recognition of the scale of green economy’s support in spatial terms (regions) and sectoral terms (renewable sources of energy, eco-friendly building materials and energy-efficient construction, ecologic transport, water and waste management, and space management). The conducted analyzes confirmed the existence of both spatial and sectoral diversification of support granted to the green economy in Poland’s contitions. This made it possible to point at the existence of green economy specialization in certain regions, as well as highlight the regions with dominant or weak position in the surveyed green economy sectors.
