Summary/Abstract: The new waste management law, which entered into force in 2013, caused great interest in supporting logistical aspects of managing and developing communities. Although undoubtedly many positive issues that we observe as a result of new legislation, there are still many problems to organize. Companies and communes started to calculate costs which turned out to be much higher than it had been expected. The authors analyzed the functioning of the Crocow Municipal Waste Disposal in terms of arrangement and implementation of municipal waste collection routes. MPO Krakow is an organization which manages the system for the treatment of Cracow, is responsible for the economic implementation of waste collection services while ensuring quality processes. The authors on the example of two selected routes of municipal waste collection, compare planning options presented by the representatives of the company with the real execution. The authors made an attempt to determine the optimization potential and an indication of the benefits of optimization municipal waste collection routes.
