Technical and financial efficiency evaluation for selected forestry managements of the State Forests National Forest Holding – the DEA approach

Summary/Abstract: The main objective of the study is the evaluation of technical and financial efficiency of selected forestry managements in Poland by means of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The research is conducted for four Regional Managements of State Forests National Forest Holding, located in: Wrocław, Katowice, Kraków and Krosno. We use the most up-to-date data available for the year 2012. In our analysis we take into account differences between forestry-specific management conditions, categorizing them in accordance with habitat similarities. Additionally, we also determine the type of returns to scale featured by each management, which allows us to differentiate between more and less dynamic entities.
