Adaptation of the s-shape heuristic for the custom layout of the order-picking zone

Summary/Abstract: In the paper the custom warehouse layout is considered where pickers move through the picking aisles according to the modified s-shape heuristic. The authors analyse the order-picking process for different storage policies using both simulations and analytical approach. For the analytical analysis the equations for average order-picking time are developed and adjusted.
