Summary/Abstract: The main stages of the semantic evolution of the word год (“year”) and its noun derivatives are studied using the data from historical dictionaries. Their compatibility and stylistic characteristics in the modern Russian language are considered. Phrases which have not been registered in the dictionaries are revealed. Attention is paid to the grammatical variability годы–года.
