Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the topic about the functions and the reception of the fantastic novel in Bulgaria. The author endorses on two periods: the end of 19 and the beginning of 20 century. This time in Bulgaria were very popular Flamarion`s astronomical novels and the fantastic novels “O-Kors” and “Teut se buntuva” by Georgi Iliev. At the beginning of 20 century the main idea was optimistic, but in the 30th years the sensation was that the development of technologies could not change the human. That is way the pessimistic ideas were basic in two novels by Georgi Iliev.
