Summary/Abstract: The analysis of achievements of chosen economists of interwar-Poland indicates that the issue of savings was an object of their deep interest. They indicated on current and future results of low-end savings on the development of the Polish economy. In achievements of the economic thought concerning savings one notices the convergence of views and proposed remedial measures for intensifying or the rebirth „of the habit of the saving” in the Polish society. The low level of the internal accumulation and the lack of sufficient internal capitals for the economy is the phenomenon which shaped then and shapes now the picture of the Polish economy. In this context achievements of the economic thought of the period 1918–1939 appear as particularly important and valuable, because in the important part can be of service as the point of departure to the discussion over the search of solutions of present economic problems.
