Summary/Abstract: The concept of socially responsible investing is becoming increasingly more popular, especially after the outbreak of one of the most devastating financial crises in history. This paper presents the results of an initial study of socially responsible funds with the use of classical effectiveness measures adjusted for risk. Obtained results indicate that, on average, the effectiveness of funds adhering to the rules of SRI was lower relative to the RESPECT index. When it comes to market timing the fund managers did not exhibit any above-average skills, but for one fund.
