Leasing as a method of farms’ area increase in Mazowsze Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The objective of this paper was to present the role of lease in increase of farms’areas on the basis of an example of the Mazowsze Voivodeship. The author referred to theessence of land lease and presented its context. To carry out analyses statistical data were usedfrom the Central Statistical Office of Poland, research of Institute of Agricultural and FoodEconomics and author’s own research carried out on the territory of selected counties of theMazowsze Voivodeship. Research covered a sample of 703 farms, located in the areas of ruraland urban-rural communities. It indicated that within the last years land lease became themain source of increase of farms area for respondents. Moreover, it gave possibility to haveaccess to direct payments and additional support for farms’ modernisation from EU funds.It is worth emphasizing that land apart of economic value often creates emotional value forsuccessors.
