Dialects of Warmia and Masuria in the {Small dictionary of Polish dialects} [‘Mały słownik gwar polskich’]

Summary/Abstract: The authors of the article compared the definitions of the chosen words from two dictionaries – the {Dictionary of Ostróda, Warmia and Masuria region dialects} [‘Słownik gwar Ostródzkiego, Warmii i Mazur’] and and the {Small dictionary of Polish dialects} [‘Mały słownik gwar polskich’]. They analyzed words used in Warmia and Masuria, in Mazovia, northern Mazovia, and some words known and used in each of the Polish dialects. The comparison demonstrated that the closest resemblance of definitions in both dictionaries concerns words used in Warmia and Masuria. The article also includes remarks and proposals for the editors of the {Small dictionary of Polish dialects}.
