Summary/Abstract: Starting with the idea of the American film critic Owen Gleiberman, that SFX cinema created the culture of unreality, and that very culture produced Donald Trump, the author recalls a number of films that somehow foresaw the emergence of this businessman and showman on the political scene. These films are: “A Face in the Crowd” (dir. Elia Kazan, 1957), “The Best Man” (dir. Franklin J. Schaffner, 1964) and “Bob Roberts” (dir. Tim Robbins, 1992).
