Summary/Abstract: State archive of Styrian in Graz inherits valuable written treasure in an amount of 60.000 meters of length, that are classified in a great number of records and collections. The oldest material which is kept in this archive originates from 1904. In Archive in Graz special attention is turned to archival collections that are united in common report «Special Collections.» Fourteen employers take care of these collections. It is about collections of different provenance, just like: General collections, certificates - charters, handwritings, settlements, postcards, portraits, prosopographs, patents, stamps, maps and drafts musicals, collections of state trade associations and master's shops, and also collections from 1848. In this work there are basic characteristics of the collections. The attention is paid to the way of its gathering, processing, arrangement and preparation for its usage. All things stated show that it is about very valuable archival material that has great importance for examination of local, regional and wider past. Archival collections, that are placed in the State Archive of Styrian in Graz, beside scientific importance present priceless cultural value.
