Summary/Abstract: The following problems have been discussed in the present article: in what condition the authentic folklore has reached socialist culture; by means of which elements of the new Bulgarian culture (of the National Revival Period and until World War II) folklore is present in the system of this culture; how, and to what extent the present condition of folklore has been studied and recorded; how traditional folklore has been used by authors working in the various spheres of modern arts; in what way mass media have used folklore; to what extent, and how folklore has been used in contemporary official festivities; what the relations are between folklore and amateur art; in what way folklore has been included in the educational programmes, etc. The task which the author has taken upon herself in this article is not so much to develop new theoretical elaborations on the questions mentioned above as to present in an analytic way the achievements of contemporary Bulgarian folkloristics in this field, outlining the basic problems and not going into details. As a result of this general outline some questions also spring forth more clearly, on which little has yet been done, or nothing at all.
