Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to identify the most important instruments supporting foreign sales of agri-food products and to characterise their use by domestic entities. These instruments include in particular political, institutional and economic-financial ones. The latter seem to be especially important for the promotion of exports, as they often involve direct focus on size of the sales and their geographical and commodity structure. When preparing the article, a descriptive method and analysis of literature were utilised. The years of 2004–2013 were adopted as the research period. Positive growth of agri-food products’ exports reported after 2004 contributed to rapid development of the sector, as well as to deepening of the process of internationalisation of the entire economy. It can be assumed that this is caused not only by joining European structures, and what is connected, by the adoption of a number of beneficial mechanisms of the common agricultural policy, but also by presence of significant sector assets, which in conjunction with the relevant support instruments result in the success of Polish agri-food products on foreign markets. Basing on a critical analysis, the author made a concise characteristics of instruments used to promote exports of Polish agri-food products.
