Summary/Abstract: The article presents selected legal problems in the scope of rural development policy, which affect the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Poland. Selected submeasures identified in the Rural Development Programme 2014–2020 were subjected to legal analysis in terms of rationality and possible efficiency of the adopted assumptions. Potential dysfunctions were indicated and proposals according to the intended law were contained.There has also been an attempt to assess the functioning of the Common Agricultural Policy as a mechanism for improving the competitiveness of the individual farms, as well as the entire agricultural sector.
