Summary/Abstract: CO2 emissions are a global problem. It means that the fight of only part of the countries in this area changes little. The purpose of this article is an attempt to show the actual level of CO2 emissions in the EU as well as the impact of EU trade on the CO2 emissions of its main trading partners. The study was conducted on a group of 20 major trading partners of the EU and the EU itself. The actual level of CO2 emissions was achieved by applying the actual emissions. Its size takes into account the transfer of CO2 in the products and services of export and import by countries. As a result of its application, it turned out that the actual level of CO2 emissions in the countries studied was significantly different from the values that represented the gross CO2 emissions in the countries concerned. An important element is also to show that the isolated actions of the EU in the energy sector will not bring the desired global goals, ie positive changes in terms of reducing CO2 emissions.
