Summary/Abstract: With a daring content, the musical romanticism at its beginnings is first of all focused on converting the secular practices of the classical and preclassical periods. Among the specific romantic musical genres, the sonata has a prioritary place, including the sonata for violin and piano. Chronologically, the first composer to try the violin and piano sonata genre was C.M.Weber. The process of transition from the classical sonata for violin and piano to the romantic violin sonata occurs in the work of F.Schubert. Starting from the cycle of Beethoven’s sonata, but at the same time conceding in favour of the romantic characteristic instrumental miniature form, Schubert is using the sonatina form (op. 137). He is placing in the limelight the assessment of a new image spectrum, the sincerity and sentimental intensity, as well as creating a new thematism, accentuating the the melodic factor, the lyrical, narrative or genre character. Together with the thematism, the principles of its development are modified.
