Summary/Abstract: The objective of this article is to show theological and moral aspects of jealousy. The starting point is a feeling of jealousy which is undoubtedly one of the most common emotional states experienced by humans. The first part of the article analyses the issue of jealousy based on chosen biblical texts. Various forms of jealousy have been shown in order to underline the fact that it cannot be perceived merely as a sin because this might predestine jealousy to an actual moral judgement. Needless to say, jealousy is likewise ascribed to God as an attribute of His love towards people. The biblical events described herein demonstrate a great zeal, enthusiasm and involvement of certain characters in order to give evidence to ongoing pursuit of ‘holy jealousy’ for the the glory of God. The second part, however, presents a diverse moral assessment of the stature of jealousy within the context of theological and moral reflexion. Furthermore, this section of the article applies basic psychological knowledge to give a clearer picture of the feeling of jealousy.
