Summary/Abstract: The following article deals with the term aškär ~ aškər, askari in Amharic and gives some additional information on meanings and distribution of aškär ~ aškər, askari to some entries of „Encyclopaedia Aethiopica”, vol. I, and explains the lehnweg these terms most likely went from Arabic to Amharic.
