Summary/Abstract: The aim was to develop articles on issues related to the use of the model Du Pont in the evaluation of effective management in selected enterprises in the mining sector. The paper presents the essence of the effectiveness of business management, research methodology and presents the results of causal analysis. The subject of the research are four companies: Bogdanka SA, Kopex Group, Lotos SA and the company PKN Orlen in the period 2010–2014. In order to better illustrate the return on equity, which is part of the model Du Pont, the current work includes comparing the average for the sector’s largest companies in terms of sales in the period 2011–2014. These entities are listed on the Stock Exchange in Warsaw. Source data are derived from balance sheets and profit and loss accounts.
