Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the roles of a consumer and the level of his significance on the contemporary tourist market. Considerations undertaken in this article confirmed that the contemporary tourist consumer plays a number of roles in the process of meeting their tourist needs; consumer tourist is an active, independent participant of the market; contemporary consumer tourist holds the posturisticus traits. Moreover, what was observed is a high level of significance of the consumer and their requirements contrasted with numerous determinants of the way the researched travel agencies function.
