Summary/Abstract: The article aimed to identify the economic and socio-demographic factors that influence participation of Polish households in on-line consumption as well as the on-line purchase volume. The study used double hurdle model and drew on microdata from the Household Budget Survey conducted by Central Statistical Office in 2013. Conducted research shows that the participation grew with increased size of a household and the number of schooling years of its head and decreased with his/her age. The highest participation levels characterized households living in the largest cities of 500,000 inhabitants or more, while the lowest – in the countryside and 20,000–100,000 inhabitant towns. Households of self-employed and white collar workers showed higher levels of participation than other socio-economic groups. Meanwhile, the average purchase volume was influenced, apart from income, by the size and class of residence.
