Summary/Abstract: In light of discussions on a paradigm shift in economics, author of the article poses the following question: whether it is justified in abandoning the teaching of economics teaching standard, or rather the inclusion of heterodox concepts and tools? This article attempts to answer this question, limited to a discussion on the inclusion of the main new institutional economics. Based on the considerations the author points to the complementarity of the two strands in explaining economic realities and the need for their combined teaching in mainstream economics.
