Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to outline the problem of critical discourse analysis in relation to theoretical framework of phenomenological sociology. The main task undertaken here is to show contemporary CDA assumptions from the perspective of Schützian tradition. The goal of the paper is also to discuss the major dilemmas associated with “social world,” which is not only the basic concept of phenomenological sociology but also a keyword of contemporary critical discourse studies. All these reflections are guided by observation that the nature of critical discourse studies is eclectic, what causes many dilemmas at the theoretical and methodological level.
