Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the observation upon the occurrence of short narratives about real events in oral speech. The attention is drawn first of all to the peculiarities and the stages of their communicative existence – the rise of the occasion to present the narratives in a certain communicative situation, their incorporation into the actual flow of words, the display of the narration, termination, secondary retelling, and turning into another category of texts. Typical linguistic means and mechanism for outlining the limits of their compositional parts, for marking the main moments and shifts in the plot and for keeping confidence in the authenticity of the event substrate have been observed. The article notes the structural-semantic similarities between the oral epic narratives and the genre forms of narrative character used in other fields of the informational exchange, regarding the relevant distinctive features of the oral stories, originating from the specificity of their communicative existence.
