Summary/Abstract: In the present paper we investigate a somewhat uncanny relationship between Cartesian philosophy and political patterns. One of the central questions here will be why did Descartes choose to minimize the impact of political practice inside revisionary cognitive structures? Furthermore, we challenge the rather capricious claim to what we may call Descartes’s „liberal” extensions, as well as the implications attached. If revolutionary commentators and political activists have misinterpreted his political thought, there is a strong possibility it was due to a fuzzy relation between Cartesian philosophy and politics.
