Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this research is to analyse the validity of the expression The Greek Miracle, utilised in a purely economic sense, which gained popularity in the 1950s and afterwards, while apparently lacking concrete arguments to uphold it. The manifestations of this alleged miracle are therefore traced throughout a historical timeline ranging from the reconstruction of the Greek economy following the Second World War with the adoption of the Marshall Plan, to the military junta regime and all the way to present day. hence, it becomes a priority to link the abovementioned economic evolution to the distressing phenomenon of the sovereign debt crisis and its intricate manifestations within the Greek economy.
