Summary/Abstract: This paper reports the discovery of a new Dacian settlement in the Someşul Mic upper basin. The settlement is located on the territory of Dumbrava village (Căpuşu Mare commune, Cluj County), on a rocky promontory of volcanic origin, called by the locals Cetăţeaua. The upper surface of the hill was arranged in the form of stepped terraces. The little upper plateau was completely destroyed by some treasure hunters from the village. The Cetăţeaua hill was inhabited in the Middle Chalcolithic (Tiszapolgár culture), in the Middle Bronze Age (Wietenberg culture) and in the Late Iron Age. The Dacian pottery fragments found on the surface belong to handmade pots, dated in the 1st century BC. The Dacian settlement, possibly fortified, benefited from a special strategic position, being located in a mandatory point of passage between the Huedin Depression and the Căpuş Corridor.
