THE ROLE OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY IN THE ARMS RACE

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the definition, causes and course of the arms race, and its forms, and in particular the role of international technology transfer and economic espionage. The author showed trends in military spending over the last century, explaining the reasons for periodic changes. Explaining the severity of the arms race in the last two decades, it points to the growing importance of modern technology and justifies States' efforts to achieve technological advantage.
