Summary/Abstract: In the article, the author presents the scale of liquidation of industrial enterprises built in the period of the PRL, which led to a significant deindustrialisation of Poland. It shows the extent of the reduction of the industrial research and development base, as well as the consequences of the adopted directions of ownership transformations in the area of industry. The article also presents the causes of losses in Poland's industrial potential. Based on the analysis, the need to transform the Polish industry and reindustrialisation of the country was indicated.
