How to examine and shape the quality of education at the university level?

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the problem of researching and forming quality of research at the university level. Article presents ways in which we can understand quality of education and challenges facing higher education, especially in Poland in the context of globalization process and concept of shaping of European Higher Education Area. The paper critically analyses dominant way of external, formalized and bureaucratic system assuring quality of education. The article points at a necessary role of universities in shaping quality of education and the main problem of establishing at universities culture of work, which would be favorable to quality of education. Starting point should be conscious self-reflection of different subjects within university, recognition of overt and ulterior value systems and models of action. In practice such constant searching for solutions inside university will be beneficial for quality of education.
