Memoirist behind the Memoires

Summary/Abstract: This text is a review of the Valeriu Anania`s Memoires (Ed. Polirom, Iaşi, 2008). Beyond their documentary dimension, the Memoires refer to an inner world, ruled by a self-governed and serious memoirist. Writing pages of Church history and Orthodox dogma, evocations of personalities (laics or clerics), discussing controversial issues of Romanian internal policy during bad times in history, or writing about simple people who meant a lot to him, Bartolomeu Anania defines, beyond the layer of immediate experience, the condition of the memoirist involved in the reassessment of self-writing.
