Summary/Abstract: This text refers to a book written by metropolitan Bartolomeu Anania: Cerurile Oltului (The Skies of the Olt) (Second edition, Ed. Pro, 1998). Not exactly a monographic study, nor an album, this volume is an experiment of the formula "book album" with an explicit intention of finding an equilibrium between the text and the images into mutual clarification, while the explanations are meant to avoid both Scylla-the "scientific technicism" of scholarly works, and Charybdis-"meaningless literature-ization" of advertising leaflets. The resultant of this stylistic bet is that the "scholia" takes, in the end, the form of an original "self-interview", like Plato`s Dialogues, where ideas get dramatic forms during the conversations between the two twins: Valeriu Anania, writer and Bartolomeu, monach. In order to get a profound interpretation to these images, dialogued "scholia" are an invitation to a profound interdisciplinary dialogue involving all the sciences that have taken an interest in iconography: the history of religions, folklore, literature, national history, art history, and theology.
