Summary/Abstract: The article herein attempts to present creation and accomplishments of the school in Kamieniec Podolski in the days of the Commission of National Education. This educational institution dates back to 1610 when Jesuits established a public school for young people. In 1773, at the time of establishing of the Commission of National Education, there had already been a junior three-grade school functioning under the auspices of the Jesuit College in Kamieniec. It would teach a course in moral theology for the lay people and provide seminarians boarding school for the nobility. After disbanding in 1773 of the Jesuit Order, the Commission of National Education submitted the school under the Cracow Academy's supervision. In the first Uniwersale issued on October 24, 1773, the Commission identified the purpose of the reforms of the Polish education system; it was supposed to foster national and civic nature of education and upbringing of the Polish youth. Subsequently, this paper discusses organizational transformations (from a provincial school between 1781 – 1782 into a district school between 1783–1793) as well as listing changes in the school curriculum. What is more, the paper elaborates on the modified curriculum introduced by the Commission’s of National Education legislation in 1783. Implementation of the program has been illustrated by a set of results of audits of the school in Kamieniec Podolski. Finally, the article has paid attention to the insufficient educational facilities of the school.
