Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is the analysis of the influence of revived nationalism and radical political concepts upon political and ideological instrumentalization of tendencies towards art and culture. Revived nationalism is becoming a base for expressing cultural policy in many European countries. In Croatia, following parliamentary elections, started the process of accelerated use of culture for ideological purposes and for expressing extreme national cultural policy. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the culture is instrumentalized in respect to the ethnical distribution of funds from the Federal Ministry for Culture and Sports. Revival of nationalism, political and ideological misuse of culture, as well as creation of ethnic and national cultural policy indicate the strengthening of authoritarian concepts of cultural policy. Providing autonomy for culture will prevent attempts to misuse it, i.e. its critical relationship towards authorities, prevailing system of values, common conventions and every other form of social domination.
