Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of the poem "At night, while I am watching the Icon" of Stanisław Pasierb. He comprehends the Mother of God from the Jasna Góra image as the person tangibly present in the human earthly life, sharing fate of the Polish nation, carrying the entire traditional weight of historical occurrences which the history of Poland experienced. At the same time the poet refers the concept of the Madonna to the theological categories. For him Mary isn't stopping being a Mother of God. The poem values a deep religious dimension, it is also characterized by outstanding artistic advantages.
