Summary/Abstract: Criminal phenomenon requires an economic analysis as well as sociological analysis in terms of its emergence, causes and consequences. The purpose of this study is to investigate impacts of socioeconomic factors on crime in economic mean. In this context, interaction between economic factors, which are among the environmental factors forming crime, and crime particularly socio-economic thematic is aimed to be investigated. In the light of the factors that affect crime, 63 prisoners from Kars Close Prison who were sentenced by miscellaneous crimes has been selected as the sample group to analyze the relationship between the types of crimes and socio-economical factors such as age, gender, marital status, educational level, and economic conditions. According to the results of the study, education level of crimes and their families are low. Offenders are from poor and crowded families who are among low income group according to economic condition. Most crimes are murder and theft. It was determined that there are people committed crimes in the environment and families of offenders. It was seen that people who migrate from where they live tend to crime in result of they encounter a difference between their expectations and what they encountered. All these results support our general hypothesis of “socioeconomic factors push individuals into crime”.
