Summary/Abstract: The first Jewish trade school in Lviv was founded in the interwar period by the Jewish Trade School Association among whose members were the most prominent local representatives of finance and commerce. The school became one of the best equipped educational institutions of this type in the city. However, in the 1930s, in the times of an economic crisis, it was threatened with closure, which was avoided thanks to reforms carried out by its the then headmaster Abraham Roth. It was also Roth who contributed to the development of the school in the following years. In 1937 the school was renamed into Trade Gymnasium and, organized, among other things, voca-tional courses for the future employees of the financial and commercial sector.
