Summary/Abstract: Financial markets in most countries around the world were pressed financially by implementing controls over interest rates, currency rates and capital flows before the 1970s. A new era began in the 1970s due to weakening of financial system, inefficiency of savings and investments, failure of Bretton Woods System, advancements in information and communication systems, and changes of policies of international bodies such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Financial repression policies were abandoned and financial liberalization policies emerged in this period. These implemented financial liberalization policies have caused significant changes in the sectoral structures of countries by influencing their economic structures. Starting from this point, the aims of the study are to examine conceptual and theoretical grounds of financial liberalization and sectoral change and then to analyze implemented policies in Turkey during the financial liberalization process and the changes occurred in Turkey’s sectoral structure during this process.
