Summary/Abstract: The speeches of Tešanj-Maglaj area are either Ekavian-Jekavian or Ijekavian. The Ekavian-Jekavian speeches of Tešanj-Maglaj area have dominant Ekavian yat substitution in long syllables, but in these speeches there are some lexemes in which instead of the yat in long syllables occur reflexes ije, je, i. This paper presents examples of the long yat substitution in Ekavian- Jekavian local speeches of Tešanj-Maglaj area. On this basis the picture of the presence and frequency of ekavisms in Tešanj-Maglaj area will be clearer.
