Summary/Abstract: In this article G. Weigel is interested in the concept of freedom. He claims that Isaiah Berlin’s two concepts of freedom, namely positive freedom - “freedom to”, and negative freedom - “freedom from”, are not able to meet the challenge of the moral relativism. The author advocates the return to Saint Thomas’ concept of freedom as “freedom for excellence”, to search for God. Such understanding of the concept of freedom can secure democracy and democratic institutions from the relativism and social decline.
