Educational Services in the Field of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Area of Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) between Bulgaria and Romania

Summary/Abstract: The article emphasizes the need for the training of specialists in the field of agriculture and rural development in the Lower Danube region in the context of cross-border cooperation between Bul-garia and Romania. The following issues are analysed: the determinants of demand and supply of educational services in the sector; regional cross-border cooperation; main problems in rural areas (low productivity, small farms, low share of young farmers, insufficient training); the provision of education and training in agriculture and agricultural econo-mics (long and short programs). Finally, we derive the main con-clusions and recommendations related to training programs and opportunities offered by the "D.A. Tsenov” Academy of Economics (based on the joint work with the Academy for Economic Studies - Bucharest). They can support the sustainable development of the cross-border cooperation area and promote rural prosperity.
