Spelling conventions in an Internet chat room

Summary/Abstract: This article presents an analysis of word spelling in an Internet text-based chat room. The research in question was carried out with the use of corpus linguistics methodology. The author presents selected corpus statistics, after which he contrasts his corpus with a corpus of general Polish. Further, he goes on to depict various conventions used by Internet chatters. Although the language phenomena discussed in this article are not relatively new issues, this time the author's remarks are based on quantitative analyses. This makes these investigations reliably empirically-grounded.
