Summary/Abstract: In an increasingly international business environment, where the European strategy for 2020 aims at ‘smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth’, as well as at turning Europe into an economic force, where the job market is characterised by the continuous circulation of people and knowledge, can one still speak of multilingualism? Is multilingualism still preserved, or is a single ‘corporate language’ preferred to several ‘working languages’? This paper tries to analyse the current status of languages in European businesses, if one may speak of a ‘corporate lingua franca’, and if multilingualism can still be seen as a true advantage for companies.
