Summary/Abstract: Tunisia has the highest rate of development of tourism among the Mediterranean countries since the sixties of the twentieth century. It is one of the most popular destinations chosen by tourists from European countries as well as from the Maghreb. In the socio-economic stability of the country, the income from tourism plays a significant role. They grow on a regular basis from year to year, significantly influencing (about 7%) at the size of the country’s GDP and at the provision of jobs (420,000) in the tourism industry. The paper presents the results of studies (from July 2013 to August 2015) on the dynamics of Polish tourists coming to Tunisia. It has also been analyzed the intensity of international tourism in Tunisia since 1960 to August 2015. An analyzed issues included the features of tourists visiting Tunisia, the impact of the terrorist attacks of 2015 years on the Tunisian tourist market and also rated the image of Tunisia as a tourist destination from Polish tourists’ point of view. Among the attributes of image selected for testing in 2015, the lowest note achieved the following ones: “the security inside the hotel and its area” – 2.93 and “security outside the hotel” – 2.78. The reason of such low notes were terrorist attacks, resulting in deaths of many European tourists. In the light of survey result it should be emphasized that sense of security significantly affects on the image of destination positively, concerning the intensity of tourist traffic in this area.
