Summary/Abstract: When teaching Russian as a foreign language, it is essential to refer to linguoculturologic alaspects of words which refer to culture. The presented description of BEAR - a linguoculturologicalobject - in syntactic and pragmatic perspective is an example of such a word. The description helped Polish students to get acquainted with linguistic signs relating to the object which had been unknown to them before. The description was based on a selection of texts with numerous cultural references, such as fables, riddles, proverbs, phraseological expressions, poems, and prosaic literarytexts. Classes conducted in line with the methodology of applied linguoculturology were aimedat developing students’ linguoculturological competence.
