Summary/Abstract: The central cycle of the Rumen Leonidov’s poetry book „The Blind Sunday“ (Сляпа неделя, 2011) called „The Remissions“ is special for its metric system. All ten poems are written mainly in trochee octosyllabic metrical unit, typical of Macedonian (and some other South Slavic) Folk Songs but an exception within Leonidov’s poetry opus. In this article, we are trying to explain why the author did choose just this metrical unit and to reveal the consequences of his choice. We conclude that the author’s choice was semantically motivated and that the tragic impact of his poems from The Remissions originates from their particular rhythm.
