Summary/Abstract: The article research the history of early A. P. Chekhov's play, known as "Bezotcovshchina" ("Without Father"), "Untitled play" or simply, "Platonov". The author defends the hypothesis, that this play is a specific synopsis of the motives for future Chekhov's dramatic texts, that make up its canonical corpus. In this sense the Chekhov's dramaturgy does not comes from his prose, but is separate, parallel of its short stories fictional discourse. Further analysis shows the proximity between the plot of "Platonov" and certain moments of the most famous Plato's dialogue, "The Symposium".
