Summary/Abstract: Evaluation of registry materials for archival profession and science is one of the most important issues. It is also a big social and civilizational issue. The archival profession and science in Bosnia and Herzegovina until a few years ago did not place particular attention to issues of evaluation registry and archival material. It has already, mostly, applied Yugoslavian experiences, without giving any considerations to Bosnian specific circumstances. However, although the archival service of Bosnia and Herzegovina duly noted the most important questions of evaluation, distinctive for its current records and archival material (in 2001 and 2002), they are not implemented in practice. For the Bosnian archival reality it is necessary to take care about application of those principles and evaluation criteria that make it possible to renew the material, and then through the revaluation make sure at least some of damaged current records and funds are complete. Here are the most notable three principles: the specifics of events and phenomena (especially when it comes to the war from 1992 to 1995), preservation of current records and the type of recording (conservation issues and evaluation materials on new holders of information). Theoretical findings are no longer sufficient, but only by consistent application of these principles in the daily work of archives and registry.
