Summary/Abstract: The article deals with identity images in an overview of the oral literature of Bosniaks with particular focus upon some frequent instances that to a certain extent determine the very genre of oral literature. Thus we find varying attitudes towards patriotism in lyric, epic and narrative poetry on one hand and in short story, tales and legends on the other hand. Numerous sub-genres will evolve from these depending on whether their content defines identity or patriotism.
